About Us
Spirit of Unity, A Church of Christ Family, is a continuation of several church entities. In 1999 two churches in Irving, Texas, merged: Central Church of Christ and Rochelle Road Church of Christ. The resulting congregation was named Plymouth Park Church of Christ. In 2018 the church family moved its meeting location outside of the Plymouth Park area and began ministry under the name Spirit of Unity, A Church of Christ Family..
BELIEF STATEMENT & VALUES
There are many voices that speak into the formation of beliefs and practices of Spirit of Unity.
a. The ancient Christian creeds (e.g., the Apostles Creed and the Nicene Creed) shape the congregation’s basic theological beliefs. These witnesses proclaim a simple, yet profound belief structure: · There is one true God that has been made known to humanity in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. · God the Father, Creator of all things, almighty and eternal · Jesus Christ, God’s one and only Son, Savior of the world through his death, burial, resurrection, and final return · Holy Spirit, God’s presence to empower and guide God’s People in one holy universal communion
b. The American Restoration Movement (Stone-Campbell Movement) forms the general practices of worship and structure.
c. The creed of Scripture is the primary voice and foundation of Spirit of Unity, best summarized in what Jesus called the greatest commands: Matthew 22:37-40 “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
CORE VALUES
In light of these influences, Spirit of Unity has settled on some core values that have developed over the history of the congregation:

Equality.
Spirit of Unity recognizes the gifts of the Holy Spirit in all members, regardless of gender, race, or social status, to be exercised fully in all ministries and leadership roles. (Galatians 3:28 One in Christ)
Service.

Humility.
Spirit of Unity is a small church family that does not have all the answers but is simply trying to grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ.(Matthew 5:1-12 The Beatitudes)
